Alexander Isaac is a big topic with Norman land striker before his transfer deadline ahead of his meeting with Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday night.

Often, the Premier League game between Newcastle and Liverpool achieved its goal. In fact, a lot of them. However, Newcastle will not have a source of their primary goals in their latest encounter with the Reds.

Alexander Isaac has been the top scorer for Magpies in back-to-back seasons and the top dog in offense since returning to the club in 2022.

The 25-year-old Isak revealed that he is eager to make a move to the Premier League champion, which he is willing to be mandatory, if Newcastle softens his stance in the final seven days of the transfer window.

Noise that has come from the club over the past few weeks shows that it is not true. That means Isaac may remain well beyond both the Monday night game and the end of next week’s transfer window…

Newcastle competed in the Champions League and won the first major trophy of a generation after beating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final in March before heading towards the spring.

The purr of interest in Isaac was not new unless it was a nuisance. Arsenal and Liverpool were routinely mentioned as Newcastle star strikers in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign. However, noise around Isaac’s future increased week by week. Magpie’s “No 9 reached Crescendo when he didn’t travel for a preseason tour in Asia before training alone at his previous club, Real Sociedad. From there, development felt inevitable and it wasn’t surprising when news of an approach from Liverpool finally arrived.

Liverpool is moving

The talk of Liverpool’s interest in ISAK at the beginning of the summer came with a minor warning of the champion’s astounding summer spending. The £116 million spending on Florian Wirtz alone meant that if Liverpool were serious about praising Isaac from St. James’ Park, they would have to break the UK’s transfer record twice in one summer. And that was before they swooped from under the magpie nose to poach Hugo Echichke, Newcastle’s top No. 9 target.

However, Liverpool is in a rude financial health situation and they actually lodged an official ISAK offer at the beginning of the month. Their £110 million proposal is out of hand and they still feel the obvious conclusion that they will do very well before the September 1st roll round, but they have yet to return to the negotiation table.

Isaac speaks

For all the stories of Isaac, Newcastle and Liverpool, one party was largely silent in the saga: Isaac himself. However, the frontman shattered the silence last week in his own words to explain why he and Newcastle’s relationship failed to continue.

There was a suggestion that Isak was not impressed when contract talks were shelved and he hinted at a “broken promise” from the club’s top brass, but his own actions over the summer were unwanted. However, Newcastle responded in turn to shoot down the suggestion that Isaac had never been promised a move. The most important part of the above statement was to explain that Newcastle had not received appropriate suggestions to meet the terms of sale. “We don’t foresee those conditions being met,” they added.

What’s next?

Well, the only thing we can be sure of is that when they run out at St. James Park on Monday evening, ISAK won’t play on either team. Perhaps the only certainty beyond that is that we have not heard the end of this story.

For one, Liverpool doesn’t necessarily lack firepower in their opening Premier League matches, but it’s obviously an appetite for them to install ISAK as a shiny new centerpiece for regenerated attacks. Whether they close the £150 million rate that Newcastle is believed to be offering is another matter.

Liverpool spent his free time this summer, but Newcastle sometimes struggles to write checks. Not for financial health, but because many key targets have proven unattainable. It is believed to be a factor behind the iron-like attitude towards ISAK. Even if they could rave about their record transfer fees, what would be good if they could not exchange those wealth for a proper exchange?

Liverpool sources claim they will not pursue players that are realistically unavailable, but what is expected is that new ISAK offers will be made after a trip to Tyneside. From a Newcastle perspective, Eddie Howe did not close the door by reintegrating Isaac when the windows closed, despite asserting that the players had played their final game with the club. In short, you have to give something.

An hostile atmosphere awaits St. James Park on Monday night. However, once in the Premier League era, Newcastle vs Liverpool appears to be likely to appear in events from the pitch rather than happening on the pitch.
