Florian Wiltz could be the most expensive signature in British football history if his big move add-on to Liverpool is achieved, and he admits he made a tough choice
Florian Wiltz admits he’s stepped out of his comfort zone by joining Liverpool, but the German star is sure his move to the Reds will help him become one of the best players in the world.
The 22-year-old opposed following in the footsteps of many Bundesliga players before him when he moved to Bayern Munich when he left Bayer Leverkusen this summer and instead chose to go on a new adventure at Anfield.
Bayern believed they were in prime positions to secure the signatures of the best-voted players in Germany in each of the last two seasons.
Talking to the German magazine kicker via Sky Sports Germany, Wirtz admits he is on the path of reducing travel, but is sure he has made the right decision.

“Leverkusen, just like I did five years ago, when I left Cologne for Leverkusen at the age of 16, I was looking for a place where I could best develop my soccer skills and be the most successful player,” Wirtz said. “That’s why I chose Liverpool. I don’t regret it yet.”
Detailing his decision to choose Liverpool over Bayern, he added: “I have already looked at both clubs very intensively, but in the end it wasn’t an easy decision.
After moving in the preseason, including a 3-2 victory at Athletic Bilbao at Anfield, Wirtz made his Premier League debut with a 4-2 victory over Bournemouth in the opening night of his new campaign.
Based on his decision to move into the Premier League, he said, “It’s a more difficult step to leave that whole environment (Germany) and make all the changes and go to another country, and to a new league where they played different styles.
“I would definitely say it’s a bigger challenge. I’ve consciously chosen to overcome it and become a better player.
“Of course, fans expect a little more than when the club signed a little money to the players. But I’m not putting any pressure on myself. I’m trying to do my best.
