Fermin Lopez has revealed whether he wants to leave Barcelona this summer. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has recently been linked to a move to Chelsea as Enzo Maresca tries to bolster his attack.
According to Football.London, Bruce is interested in Lopez and is considering bidding on Monday night before the transfer window closes. Chelsea are considering Spanish international moves, but have not yet begun consultations with the Spanish club.
However, the report claims that the West London Club is in contact with Lopez’s representatives. While Chelsea may be keen to secure the service of the Spaniards, pulling him away from Camp Noo could prove challenging.
Speaking to Catalonian radio station RAC1 in June, Lopez expressed his commitment to Barcelona, saying, “I am not going to leave. I am very pleased with Barca. It is my dream and I want to stay there.”
Lopez, whose contract at Camp Nou runs until June 2029, was an unused replacement in Barcelona’s 3-2 victory over Levante over the weekend. Prior to the match, Hansifrik told reporters he didn’t want to lose players later in the transfer window.
“I don’t want to lose any players now,” the former Bayern Munich boss said. “It’s been a tough season and we need a Fermin quality player, he did very well last season and at the beginning of this.
Ahead of the opening weekend of the new LA La Liga season, Flick provided an update on Lopez and his situation at Barcelona. Chelsea’s target began with a 3-0 victory at RCD Mallorca, but he was replaced by Daniormo at halftime.
“Last season was spectacular for (Fermin),” Frick said. “We have a lot of quality in that position too (with) Dani Ormo. We have to manage it well, minutes, players.
“I’m very happy. I wasn’t very happy in the preseason (with Fermen), but he’s improved over the past two weeks. He showed how good he is to Como.”
Lopez isn’t just the midfielder attacking Chelsea radar ahead of Monday’s deadline. According to Football.London, Bruce has been discussing potential Xavi Simons deals with RB Leipzig for more than a month.
But negotiations have proven complicated, with the West Londoners trying to off-road Christopher Nukank before moving forward. It is understood that by 7pm on September 1st, Simons remains confident that he will become a Chelsea player.
Enzo Maresca wants to add at least two players before the windows close, and Alejandro Garnacho’s move is also ongoing.
