Trent Alexander Arnold was surprisingly named on the bench as Real Madrid beat the real Oviedo over the weekend, and boss Zabi Alonso warned the English star that he could stay there
Real Madrid boss Zabi Alonso suggests that Trent Alexander Arnold can stay on the bench after dropping him over the weekend. The Spanish giants have won the real Oviedo in their second La Liga Liga match of the season.
And surprisingly, former Liverpool defender Alexander Arnold started the game on the bench, endorsing veteran Dani Carbajal. He eventually appeared, but only as an 87-minute replacement.
Asked about his decision, real boss Alonso suggested that no one would guarantee a starting spot. He states: “It depends on what you need when it comes to games, workloads, and opposition parties.
“I haven’t made any decisions for next month, and I’ll see how we recover and make sure people are important, ready to start, leave the bench, or get into the next game.
“This is important for the stability of the team’s performance. Today was a game that showed that we’re still improving. I want to continue like this. I’ll prepare for the Mallorca game before the break.

“We have 20 players on our team. I try to make the most of them all. Sometimes we can spend a few minutes and today was important. Vini was important today.
Alonso did not specifically name Alexander Arnold, but he praised his teammate Carballard. The real boss suggested that the fullback form was potentially good enough to regain a place he’ll return to the Spanish team ahead of the World Cup in America next summer.
He added: “He wants to go back, but that’s the coach’s decision, and I’m very pleased that he has regained his confidence after such a long injury.

“And he still does, but today he played 85 minutes in Kavajal style, competing well, conveying his leadership role and bringing a lot of sense to everything.
The real thing will be active this weekend as they will leave their home and take over Mallorca. They won each of the opening two games of the campaign.
