Arsenal’s summer signing Viktor Gyoker won his new club mark on Saturday and earned a brace at Leeds United in the Gunners’ 5-0 thrashing
Alan Shearer welcomed Victor Gyoker’s confidence and confidence to score a penalty in Arsenal’s Leeds United’s 5-0 domination on Saturday. The Gunners skillfully dispatched Premier League rookies with goals from Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka and their new Swedish striker.
Gyoker scored Arsenal’s third and filmed Massie running into the box and tucked into the lower left corner. After Max Dowman was fouled in the penalty area during suspension, the 27-year-old stepped up to take a spot kick and slotted his efforts into the house. Since then, Shearer has praised Gyoker’s confidence in stepping up to the remaining Emirates plates.
He said: “Do you know what’s even more impressive to me? It was getting him, he grabs the ball and asks for a penalty.”

Nodding in agreement, co-host Gary Reinker replied: “I loved it too. Striker! What chance (penalty) you have to take. When you are a striker, it’s your best chance of scoring.
Shearer continued: “If Saka had been there, I don’t think he would have been penalized, but then he might not have done it. You already have one (the goal).
“And you’re right, we know what it’s like to go down to a decent (started) thing. I mean, last weekend he’d been thinking, ‘Oh, that wasn’t what I wanted, and I never planned it at Old Trafford.”
“But you’re at home and you scored one really good goal, then your belief and confidence (give me a penalty). And I’m sure he was at the top of the world last night, and I’m sure he couldn’t wait for the next game.”
Gyoker welcomed the team’s efforts after his second victory in the season. After the match, the goal scorer said: “It felt good. Of course, I was glad to get 90 minutes and get the rhythm and play with everyone. Overall I think it was a good game.
“Of course I got two today and the team scored five points. I think that showed that we can be a big threat in the future with a lot of great players attacking, but of course that’s also very important in defense. I think we gave the ball a very good time today and didn’t give it a lot of time.
“We started off well and I think we had some chances. We scored two points in the first half. We had a good chance that we should have scored in the first half. We kept going in the second half. Of course, it was a great feeling to score early.
“It was amazing to feel that support from one minute to the very end. It gave you extra energy to keep going, and of course you won 5-0 and keep another clean sheet.”
Next up after Gyoker and The Gunners is a trip to Anfield to rule Premier League champions Liverpool. The blockbuster match will begin on Sunday, August 30th at 4:30pm.
