Manchester United were awarded a foul penalty by Calvin Bassey in a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Sunday, and escaped with his own foul on the other side
Manchester United benefited from two false referee decisions in a draw with Fulham on Sunday, according to former Premier League umpire Mark Halsey.
United attracted 1-1 at Craven Cottage in a game dominated by controversial decisions by officials. The away side should have used a penalty call in their favour, but Bruno Fernandez burned his efforts against the crossbar.
Judge Chris Kabana pointed to the scene after Var sent him to a pitchside monitor to watch the incident from the corner. Fulham defender Calvin Bassy was determined to foul United midfielder Mason Mount.
Halsey believes that VAR did not have to send Kavanagh to review the case. He also believes United escaped with a foul to get the header from Renny Yoro to go 1-0 from Rodrigo Muniz.

“Like Mount’s Bassy, both incidents happened at the same time, so we’ll have to watch the Luke Show of Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz,” Halsy wrote for the Sun.
“I don’t know why he was called. Even when Kabana went to screen, he was there for a while watching it. There are two incidents, which is more serious?
“I can see why Marco Silva has become a ballistic trajectory because we can see a clear push from Bassey’s Rennie Yolo for United’s goal.
Gary Lineker gave similar points when discussing the decision and discussing how it could be communicated to the rest of the fans. He said: “They’re good at me, what a strange experience. Go to the game, we see the game, there’s a corner, the ball is cleared, the ball goes up to the other end of the pitch, and the ball is up on the offense.
“Then the REF suddenly stops and you’re thinking, ‘What’s going on here?’ Now I know that experiences are different at home, but if you are on the ground, you are looking at mine.
“I didn’t even know if it was the end or the end of it, or if you didn’t know what was going on. So it’s a really bad experience for the fans.”
United only got one point from two Premier League matches after Emile Smith Lowe canceled Muniz’s own goal with a timing finish from a cross.
