Alexander Isaac remains a Newcastle United player as he approaches the end of the summer transfer window, and the club desperately tries to sign two strikers for Eddie Howe

Eddie Howe remained nervous about Alexander Isaac’s future after Newcastle was quized before his match against Liverpool on Monday night.

Newcastle host Liverpool hosted Liverpool at St James Park during a troublesome period, with Isaac refusing to play for his club to force him to transfer to his opponent. The Swedish striker has accused his employer of breaking his promises and is not part of Hau’s team.

Liverpool rejected a £110 million bid that was rejected in the beginning of August and has yet to return to another offer. Meanwhile, Newcastle is desperately searching for a striker to sign. Isaac is on strike and Callum Wilson is making a free transfer to West Ham.

Magpies also saw two offers Brentford rejected a £50 million bid by Jorgen Strand Larsen’s wolves on Monday, and Brentford refused for Joane Wissa. Howe was asked about his transfer status before kickoff, but he was barely apart.

“No, unfortunately, there’s absolutely nothing to update you,” he told Sky Sports. “We were training this morning, we were preparing for the game, but we didn’t update anything. The focus for me is purely on this game.

“We enter a new season without being recognized for the center that moves forward in that position, not where we are at this moment, and that Anthony Gordon has played really well for us historically.

Isak is trained himself and hopes Liverpool will return on September 1st with a second bid that Newcastle cannot refuse before the windows close.

“You can’t put yourself in this situation when you don’t come to training,” Henry said. “In an ideal world, the best thing for anyone is whether he can leave.

“But I believe he can apologise if someone makes a mistake. We can move on, he can score goals and play the same thing last year, and Newcastle fans are fine about it.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carrager made a similar point. “This isn’t because I want Isaac in Liverpool (but I think Newcastle should sell Isaac,” he said.

“The reason I say that is because people outside of Newcastle are telling the club and Eddie Howe what they have to do – show you what you have to be strong, Liverpool and other clubs that players can’t demand to go.

“But they don’t have Isaac’s problems every day. It’s the problem that Eddie Howe has at every press conference and they’re being asked about him. It’s the cloud on the club.”
