Bruno Fernandez missed the penalty as Manchester United painted 1-1 at Fulham on Sunday, but his display would have been more concerned about Reuben Amorim than a mistake from the scene

The £206 million spending over the summer may have just turned Manchester United’s best player into a big problem.
Bruno Fernandez was United’s savior last season, the last player they needed to fix, as he assisted, assisted and checked the entire team. But now Fernandez appears to be lost in United’s new look lineup as the game passes him, and his effectiveness is waning with Reuben Amorim’s team.
United bought the Superstar Front 3 with Benjamin Sesco, Mateus Cunya and Brian Mbeumo. They invested heavily and carried out a full attack. Already accepting United No. 10 shirts, there are exciting signs of Cunha that look like an exciting Maverick. Mbeumo has talent, skills and vision, but Sesko costs £73 million and has many qualities like the classic No. 9 when he deserves to start.
However, there is no doubt that United’s Cavalier approach on the pitch and transfer market has had such an impact on their masters and captains.

Fernandez was clearly expected to return to a deeper midfield role, and in Sunday’s draw at Fulham he was expected to do all the runs as Casemiro’s feet were unable to carry him up until now.
Worse, Casemiro always looks like a red card waiting for him to happen, as he was hooked in the second half as he had booked it.
His replacement, Manuel Ugarte, clearly, does not do enough to convince United boss Amorim that he is the answer and that they don’t have that quality in the middle.
Clearly, all of Fernandez’s mistakes are made sharper focus by the fact that he sent a penalty sailing over the bar, with some fingers pointing in the middle to not track down Emile Smith Lowe’s equalizer run.
United have their own production issues and making it from the best players of last season is, well, it’s just the typical United. Now the team looks disproportionate – and they only have a week to fix it. They are screaming for the midfield general who can definitely make it work in a deeper role if it is necessary.
But like many things, United went to break in the offense, then ignored other important but obvious areas like the midfield and the Keeper.
It was surplus to Bayern Munich’s requirements, so I’m confused as to why United didn’t go for someone like Joa Parchña, who joined Tottenham. Palhinha is on a season-long loan with a viewing of the permanent £26 million Switch. When United spent all the fabric ahead of time, it would have been just perfect.
Also, all current options aren’t enough, so I’m looking for a new keeper.
At least they repaired the line ahead and made their supporters dream. Once all three fit and ready to start together, they can stop some.
However, at this speed, they have to be a case of scoring one more than the opposition, as midfield does not provide protection for the defense and the keepers appear to be already exposed. Meanwhile, they haven’t made the most of Fernandez’s main man.
