Ngumoha had a final say on the evening of pure theatre in the northeast, nearly a few days on his 17th birthday.
But to their achievement, Eddie Howe’s team fought back. Bruno Guimarès gave them hope before the slow leveler from Will Osla seemed to save the point.
But deep into the downtime, Ngumoha ended with a great calm to give Slot’s team victory in his league debut.
Liverpool captain Vilgilvandick told Sky Sports: “It was a dream debut for him. I think the whole offense was very good. I think it was a perfect offense. I finally settled down and found the right solution to score a goal.
“I’m very pleased with Rio. I told him I’ve already started all of it. He has to keep working hard and staying humbled, but these nights definitely have to enjoy this.
“The players we have are sure he’ll be back in training and have a hard session tomorrow.”
Slot praised the quality of the teenager’s strike, saying, “It was a big goal for a 16-year-old. Rio can finish very well at his age.
“I then heard someone say in the dressing room that they’d have taken the first touch and he’s very confident. He’s a really good finisher at his age.
“He’s not afraid to play. It’s a great finish and a great offense from the whole team.”
In 2016 and 361 days, Ngumoha is Liverpool’s youngest goal scorer, beating Ben Woodburn, 17 years and 45 days ago when he faced Leeds United in 2016.
Gordon “we wanted to help too much,” says Guimaree.
Gordon undermined Newcastle’s hopes in the second half of the first half.
He was fired for Van Dik’s rash challenge. Speaking after the game, home captain Guimaras suggested that the challenge depends on being overly excited.
“I think he wanted to help too much,” Guimaras said. “I think you are very excited that you make some mistakes.
“It happened to me. We always try our best. There’s a lot of noise outside and we can’t control it.”
Newcastle has one point from two league matches, but manager Eddie Howe was pleased with the performance.
Speaking to the BBC, Howe said:
“In the first half we thought we were dominating the game, we were in a great place where only goals were missing.
“In the second half, we had a mountain climbing 2-0 with 10 men, but I thought we had control of the game.
“We thought it was really good and we went back incredibly well, but we couldn’t get over the line to get the points.”
