Manchester City took the Premier League campaign to Wolverhampton Wanderers to win, but there could be more exits before the deadline

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that Rico Lewis could still leave the club before the end of the summer transfer period. Lewis began his victory at Wolves on Saturday and established the opener for Erling Haaland, but was on the radar in Nottingham Forest.

Forest has already signed one City player this summer, with James McAtee signing in a deal worth £30 million. Lewis is expected to cost a little more if he follows the lawsuit, and Guardiola doesn’t rule that out.

“I think he’ll stay,” Guardiola said after a 4-0 victory at Molyneux. “He told me that, but maybe tomorrow it will change.

“For example, in the case of Phil (Foden), Rico, Nico O’Reilly, when they arrived here, they were 16 or 17 and we were winning the Premier League, so I have special sympathy. He’s an extraordinary player in his role.

“But he’s very small. If he was tall, he’d say, ‘What a player.’ I think he’ll stay today, but I don’t know what will happen. ”

Lewis, who passed through the city academy before breaking through under Guardiola, suggested he had no plans to go anywhere. “I always wanted to play for City,” he said.

“It’s my dream club and, as you see today, when I’m playing with the kind of players I’m playing with with me, it brings out the best in me, so I’m so happy.

“Everyone wants guarantees and security, but at the end of the day, it’s with me,” he said. “It’s me to perform. It’s me to take the opportunity. If I take my chance, I’ll do it. Otherwise I have to work and do it better.”

Lewis’ assist for Haaland’s goal allowed City to break the deadlock 11 minutes before halftime, quickly making it 2-0 through Premier League debutant Tijani Reyjner. Haaland scored second through Raiders assist around the hour mark before Rayan Cherki added fourth place instead.

“He’s an incredibly big signature for us,” Guardiola said of the summer signature reijnders. “His work ethic, the holding midfielder, takes up a lot of space and then after controlling with the ball and his movements, he’s going to get behind and score – he’s really pleased.”

The wolves are quieter than the transfer market cities, and manager Viter Pereira showed that there is a need for strengthening after the match. “We need to keep doing the good things, remedy the bad things and wait for the club to buy new players because we need new quality,” he said as the team lost the departure of Rayan Ait Nouri, Mash Kuña and Nelson Semedo in their first league game.
