After raising the goal, Amorim admitted that his side “forgotten how we play” and suggested that they had overlooked the job before them as United were eager to win.
“For me, it’s a moment when we have to enjoy ourselves and push our opponents more. We pushed them very high and tried to leave a lot of space.
“We have to grow as a team. The most important thing to me is that they worked really hard during the week. Today we work really hard and improve. The moment we changed the game was our goal.”

Despite the modest results, it was an event-filled match as it had problems with the hosts, especially some controversial decisions. Initially, United was awarded a first half penalty, and Calvin Bassey was determined to have wrestled Mason Mount to the ground while the horns were being delivered.
However, Bruno Fernandez sent a soaring penalty over the crossbar.
Amorim suggested that his team needed to “relax” while observing Fernandez’s response to his fiery penalty.
Asked how his side is “growing”, Amorim said, “Training training in the game. You need to win, not to play, but to have a sense of relaxation, not to maintain our minds.
“We are suffering a little bit in the end as the momentum has changed more along with Fulham’s goals.
“In the first half of the time we were there, we missed the penalty… Fernandez is responsible for so much to him that I felt a lack of joy (after the mistake) and he had thought in the past. Now, we have to move forward no matter what happens.”
After missing the penalty, he returned from the scene at Fernandez and was interrupted by referee Chris Cabana.
The United captain said he was “upset” that Cabana didn’t apologize, but rejected the proposal, which is why he missed the target.
“That was what caused me in that moment, but that’s not an excuse to miss the penalty. I had a very bad hit on the ball. I also put my foot under the ball, so it ended up over the bar.”
Draw left United to score one point from his first two games, losing 1–0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford over the opening weekend.
