Arsenal has received a major boost with news that Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard’s injuries are not as serious as initially feared. Following the 5-0 victory over Leeds, there have been concerns about the fitness of both players, but recent scans suggest they will not take action for a long time.

Mikel Arteta expressed concern over Saka’s hamstring issues, recalling that the winger missed nearly four months last season due to a similar injury. Club Captain Odegard raised the alarm bell after landing awkwardly on his shoulder.

However, it remains to be seen whether any of the players are suitable to play Liverpool at Anfield next Sunday. “I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet, but that’s what makes Bukayo leave,” Arteta said.

“He felt something while he was sprinting. That’s not a good sign. He’s going to have to wait tomorrow. But he’s gotten these injuries before. He knows exactly what that feels like.

Despite key players like Kai Herberts, Ben White, Gabriel Jesus and Christian Norgaard gone missing due to injuries, Arsenal managed the dominant victory over Leeds thanks to braces from Victor Gyoker and braces from Julien Timbers and strikes from Saka.

“It was exactly how we wanted to start our first game and we won in a really compelling way,” Arteta said. “I was able to feel something, especially in the atmosphere before the game.

“I think we need to be very proud of the way we played, the way we dominated the game. We don’t acknowledge most shots, we don’t acknowledge the clean sheets. Plus, many good moments.

“Viktor is scoring the club’s first two goals. I’m excited and pleased with Julian after his ankle and injured his time with him putting in with all the Physios and the medical department and scoring two very special goals at Emirates Stadium.

“(Christian) Mosquera made his debut for the club, and then one of the highlights is undoubtedly, with Max (Dauman) making his debut at 15 and earning a penalty. I’m so proud.”
