Arsenal hopes to finish second-place finishes in three straight sets this season in the Premier League.
William Saliba is confident that Arsenal’s business during the summer transfer will make a difference in the Premier League title race. Gunner has blew £200 million to a new player this summer after finishing second for the third consecutive season.
Viktor Gyokeres, Martin Zubimendi, Noni Maduke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga all joined the Mikel Arteta team for the 2025/26 campaign. Arsenal hopes to take Manchester United 1-0, 1-0 at Old Trafford and compete with Liverpool and Manchester City again.
Gyokeres is perhaps the most important addition, giving Arsenal a centre forward, and believes many have been short on the line in recent years. And after finishing Liverpool’s 10-point drift and reaching the Champions League semi-finals, Saliba thinks this could be their year.
“Of course, we’ve finished second for the third year in a row. We know we’re always missing something,” the centre-back said. “It’s a new season now, and we have to see what we didn’t do well enough to win the league.

“We won our first game. Of course we want to win the league. We give it everything. To win this league, we have to make sure we’re even better than the last three seasons.
“We are sure that new players who have come to help us get some trophies. Of course, we’re already excellent with them. Let’s take a look.”
Despite improvements under Arteta, Arsenal is chasing its first Premier League title since the famous invincible campaign in 2003/04 and its first major trophy since the 2020 FA Cup.
Saliba was talking to reporters after being selected for the PFA Premier League Team of the Year in his third season. The gunner was represented by his centre-back partner Gabriel Magalges and midfielder Declan Rice.
The partnership between Saliva and Gabriel has been absolutely crucial to the success of the last three seasons, ready to prove the class with silverware.
“I’m so happy to be able to play all of the games with him,” Saliba said. “He’s been injured in recent months. Now he’s back to his best. He’s once again very good against Manchester.
“We miss the trophies. We play well. We’re good, but we have to miss the trophies and win the Arsenal and the trophies to get even better.”
Arsenal will host the newly promoted Leeds in their second game on Saturday evening, before the early test of title eligibility, which will be playing against Liverpool at Anfield on August 31st.
Gunners were handed the difficult start of the campaign as Nottingham Forest, Manchester City and Newcastle follow the international break in September.
