Scottish football is in mourning after Morton’s manager Dougie Imley unveiled the tragic news that his daughter Remi has passed away. Imley missed Morton’s championship opener against the Dunfermline after Remi was born 14 weeks earlier and weighed only 1 pound and 4 ounces.

And now Imrie has confirmed that Remi passed away on Tuesday and is writing on social media. “Our girl was tired early on a Tuesday morning and decided it was time to rest.

“I hope you will love Remi for 20 days and know how much you are loved. We will cherish the short time you spend with you.

Imley and his partner Lauren were by her side in the neonatal intensive care unit at Wischau Hospital. Morton fans read in the opening game “continue the fight against Remi.”

The club also issued a statement after Remi’s death, writing:

“The heartfelt condolences of everyone associated with the club go to Dougie Imley, his partner Lauren and the whole family during this very sad time.

Imley returned to work after missing out on Morton’s opener and commutes to Wish War from Greenock to be with his family every day. Last week, Imrie told Herald Sports:

“I’ve returned to the club this week, but I’m heading straight to the hospital until the stadium, training, finishing, and 10pm.

“I’ve come back to work a few times, but unfortunately I was only here for 10 minutes so I called back to the hospital.

“They hope that they find the middle ground and that she will grow more consistently than they do every day. We feel guilty every time we go home and leave Remi in the hospital, but we understand that she is in the best possible place in these people’s hands.

“What I have to say is that these people in Wishaw’s neonatal intensive care unit workers are incredibly incredible. NHS staff who do incredible jobs, they’re amazing people. You don’t know what you’ll do until you’re in that scenario.
