Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola attended Oasis’s homecoming gig this summer, revealing what legendary frontman Liam Gallagher looks like
Pep Guardiola celebrated Oasis as “the best rock band of the past 50 years,” before being held in a meeting with “kind” Liam Gallagher. The Manchester Band has essentially linked to Premier League side Manchester City since it jumped into the scene in the 1990s.
Both Gallagher brothers are huge fans of the club, but Guardiola returned his favor this summer on Oasis’s long-awaited reunion tour.
The Spanish tactician took part in the Heaton Park concert in Manchester in July and got the opportunity to meet Liam for the first time. Speaking about his experiences, Guardiola said: “It was really good. It was my first time in this country, so it was good. It was my first time in Manchester.
“They’ve come here for so many years. They’ve been the best rock band of the past 50 years, and I’m happy it’s back.
“This is the first time I’ve known Liam. Noel has been there many times (at the City Games), but Liam has never met him before and we met him before the concert. He was very kind.”

And Guardiola was happy to meet Liam, but his highlight was the concert itself, admiring Oasis as one of the greatest musical groups of all time. He added: “I don’t know how many countries they sold out, but that means how good they were. When (people) say this team will be one of the best, I always say, ‘Please ask me in 25 years’ time.”
“And then, if people still talk about that team, it was a good team. It was like a book. If people read the same book 25 years later, it’s a good book.
“It’s like an oasis, no? They’re back and sold out all over the world. That’s because they’re good. Otherwise it’s not sold out.”

Guardiola attended the Heaton Park concert, where she and her daughter Maria wear a Classic Man City shirt. The Spaniard also had the opportunity to meet the three children of Liam’s son, Lennon, 25, 24, 24, and Noel, 25, Donovan, 17, 14, 14, 14, and the Gallagher brothers.
Noel recently gave his verdict on the city’s summer business, claiming that some players need to be sold. Speaking about Talksport, he said:
“But if you look at players, Rodri and Foden, who weren’t even on the bench, that’s too much. But the quality is incredible and I think there’s a scramble in place when they all fit.”
