Evangelos Marinakis reportedly was unscathed by Nuno Espirito Santo’s comments about his future in Nottingham Forest, as he said the Portuguese tactician could be fired. The forest boss was opened about his relationship with the club’s co-owner ahead of the weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace.
It’s already a tense fixture, given that the forest is the one who will benefit from Crystal Palace’s relegation from the Europa League earlier this summer. However, when Nuno revealed that his relationship with the hierarchy had been tested for the past few weeks, the spanner was thrown into the work.
Athletic reports that a rift has arisen between Nuno and Edu Gaspard, who recently arrived as head of global football after a stint with Premier League rival Arsenal. The outlet claims their relationship has gone down on bad feet and has been heading down ever since, and is now said to be “irreparable” between EDU and Nuno.
There may be a way to explain the eyebrow-raising comment from Nuno prior to the palace clash, but this statement is said to have surprised the forest bigwig. Thus, Sky Sports claims that the former female boss may not be in charge of Sunday’s match at Selhurst Park now.
On Friday afternoon, Espirito Santo said:
“It’s not going very well this season. But I always believe that dialogue and your opinions are always valid because my concerns are teams and seasons, as my concerns are teams and seasons. But our relationship isn’t that close. It’s not routine. It’s not good.
Before the big season of forests, they are aiming to return to European football, especially in competitions where they are more honorable than competitions they are qualified to.
