Newcastle was shaken by Alexander Isaac’s statement about his future on Tuesday night, but responded by giving an improved bid to Brentford’s Joan Wissa.
Newcastle has returned with an improved offer worth £40 million in total from Joane Wissa of Brentford.
The 25-year-old ISAK is an ambitious target for Liverpool ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline, with the Premier League champion already seeing one important offer for Sweden’s international denial. However, with ISAK’s explosive official statement Tuesday night, it remains to be seen whether he is a Newcastle player beyond this month.
The Magpie was in the attacker’s market following the departure of Calm Wilson earlier this summer. Wissa, 28, has emerged as the top target following Brentford’s stellar 2024-25 campaign.
And after seeing the first £25 million offer that was rejected last week, Newcastle submitted an improved proposal consisting of £35 million. However, the athletic report, where the proposal was immediately rejected in Newcastle, spans Brentford’s request.

Wissa is eager to force a move and did not feature in the Premier League opening game on Saturday. He also removed all Brentford-related content from his Instagram account over the weekend as the sagas and bees he was involved in became toxic.
Even if Newcastle succeeds in pursuing Wissa, it is unlikely that his arrival alone will lead to Isaac’s desired movement.
In a statement shared via Instagram on Tuesday night, Isak broke the silence in Saga, which has dominated the story on Tyneside this summer, claiming that “the promise has been broken” and “the trust has been lost.” However, Newcastle is ready to issue his own answer and stick to the ratings of the £150 million player.
They stated: “We are disappointed that we were warned by Alexander Isaac in a social media post tonight, and we are making clear that Alex has been signed and has never been committed by club officials that he will be able to leave Newcastle United this summer.
“We want to keep the best players, but we understand that players have their own wishes and listen to them. As I explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always consider the greatest interests in every decision of Newcastle United, our team and our supporters.
“We don’t foresee these conditions being met. This is a proud football club with a proud tradition and strives to maintain a family atmosphere. Alex is part of our family and is welcome when he is ready to rejoin his teammates.”
