Arsenal moved ahead of bitter rival Tottenham in the race for Crystal Palace winger Ebelech Eze along with sports director Andrea Berta, who is about to get the deal done by the deadline next month.
Arsenal once again removed Tottenham’s nose from the joint on the transfer market – this time with the move of Crystal Palace star Ebeki Eze. The Spurs represented a considerable coup on Thomas Frank’s side, appearing to be set to seal off sensational deals for the England wideman.
However, Arsenal hasn’t moved to North London without Eze becoming muscular about his contract, and now the 27-year-old looks ready to switch to Emirates Stadium before the transfer deadline next month. Certainly the Spurs are baffling, but it seems Arsenal now has secured a player they have admired for a while. However, the gunner’s process of hijacking this move was not particularly quick.
Arsenal sports director Andrea Berta actually broke the terms of the contract as early as August 10, as originally reported on August 10 – it was kept quiet, but the words were put forward that while the left wingers were higher on their agenda, they needed to sell players first. Their movement for Eze was essentially placed on ice.
It left the door open to Spurs. The Spurs were considered a favorite of his service. They ultimately agreed to terms with the palace on Wednesday after a series of complicated and often difficult debates, as players themselves were ready to move after appearing for the Eagles in the Europa Conference League playoffs vs Fredrikstad.
However, Kai Havertz’s knee injury accelerated Arsenal’s thinking and pushed them into action – leading them to the bid for the Gazamp Spurs.

Daniel Levy has broken £10 million with £50 million worth of deals and add-ons, while Arsenal will pay £60 million and £7.5 million with add-ons. Steve Parish’s relationship with Arsenal executive vice chairman Tim Lewis has moved the gunners in front of the cue for the last few days.
The pair is in regular communication – much more than the parish or Spurs chief Levy. More business possibilities also seem to have strengthened Arsenal’s hands – defender Jakub Kiwior is currently interested in the palace.

In the middle of it was Eze himself, “excited” to become a Spurs player despite his love for the gunners. The English man was released as a teenager by Arsenal and spoke about his “dream” to represent the club one day.
Given Arsenal’s previous hesitation, he accepted that his dream might not become a reality. He held a meeting with Parrish and tried to resolve the situation, but to no avail. That was until Wednesday when Arsenal moved ahead of Queue for Eze. The Spurs have not been officially drawn, but all signs point to becoming an Arsenal player.
Now I’m left to face Levi. The Spurs chief also missed a contract with Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbswhite this summer. Gubbswhite is also ready to sign a new contract with the Midlands before making a dramatic U-turn.
This will probably sting more. Arsenal will leave it to extremely talented footballers.
