Brentford striker Joana Wissa is reportedly looking to move to Newcastle to continue the club’s rich history with French and African players. Wissa, 28, was removed from the team due to Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Nottingham Forest, and he continues to seek a move.
He has since removed all his relationships with his current club from his Instagram account. Born in northern France, Dr. Congo International will need to confirm the movement that expired summer transfer windows until September 1st. However, he does not seem to intrigue his mind from other places as his mind is set only at one destination.
According to Sky Sports News, the Striker wants to follow in the footsteps of three other French-born players who starred in St. James Park. He is said to have nominated Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse and Hatem Ben Arfa as the trio behind his transfer desire.
He also has his heart on the famous No. 9 shirt from the club that Cisse previously wore. However, Wissa has been made to wait for his move, and Brentford reportedly declined a £40 million bid from Newcastle on Wednesday.
Midfielder Ben Alpha spent five years in the Northeast after moving from Marseille, appearing in 86 clubs. His father previously represented Tunisia, but he won 15 caps in France.
However, Wissa’s ambition to emulate all three stars depends on the northeastern side. Otherwise, the player who scored 19 Premier League goals last season faces the prospect of staying at Limbo until January.
