Tottenham’s transfer strategy is facing yet another set-off as they aim to bounce back to bitter rival Arsenal, as they are at a loss at targets. The Spurs were negotiating between the clubs of the Ace of England in pursuit of Crystal Palace star Ebeki Eze.
However, Wednesday brought news that Arsenal had dramatically increased his interest in Eze, and suddenly appeared as an overwhelming favourite to urgently secure his signature. As a result, Tottenham appears to be destined to shift focus to alternative targets following the disappointment of another transfer.
Earlier this summer, the Spurs denied the service of Morgan Gibbs White when the Nottingham Forest midfielder wrote a fresh term on the City Ground, according to Football. Manchester City star Savigno is now emerging as a potential solution to Tottenham’s aggressive strengthening needs.
Transfer Guru Fabrizio Romano reports that Tottenham is “pushing” Savinho’s signature and is hoping that Spurs boss Thomas Frank will bring the Brazilian star to North London. However, City has reportedly remained determined in its determination to keep Savinho at Etihad Stadium, and is currently blocking potential departures.
The Spurs remain optimistic that City will ultimately sanction Sabigno’s exit and pave the way for a switch to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Tottenham is scrutinizing the transfer market for additional forward players following a setback from James Madison’s preseason injury.
Madison is expected to spend most of his season on the sidelines of recovery after suffering an ACL injury during his preseason tour in the Far East and undergoing surgery. Eze and Gibbs-White are considered potential forward options for the Spurs, but now the club is said to be looking at alternative options.
The Spurs have already signed West Ham’s Mohamed Kudus earlier this summer. It remains to be seen whether Savinho’s contract will be possible as Tottenham completes the transfer business until September 1st.
Tottenham and Man City will face each other head-on in the Premier League this weekend when they meet at Etihad at lunchtime on Saturday.
