Ebeki Eze’s £60 million move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal is expected to be confirmed as early as this weekend, according to the PA Communications Agency. The final details of the 27-year-old’s contract are almost complete, pushing Arsenal’s summer spending beyond the £250 million mark.
Crystal Palace Manager Oliver Grasner revealed that Eze, who is absent from the team due to the conference league playoffs at Selhurst Park, informed him that he could not play Thursday morning. “Honestly, he was hoping to start for us today, but he called me this morning and said he doesn’t feel much of a play in the evening, and of course I have to accept that.
“I have to accept that. If the player said he wasn’t ready to play, of course we had to accept that.
“And it was pretty busy. I don’t like changing the start 11 of 11 on the day of the match, especially in this situation. It’s the first time in Crystal Palace’s European football, but again, we have to deal with it.
Eze is poised to be his seventh summer signature after Arsenal moved after surpassing Tottenham for England International. This week’s stunning AIDS transfer was followed quickly this week after Kai Herberts sustained knee injury.
German International appeared as a second half replacement in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Manchester United, completing the match, but he did not take part in the club’s open training session at the Emirates on Wednesday.
It remains unclear what time period Havertz is still being evaluated. But Eze’s Swift move shows that Arsenal, who is at the helm by Mikel Arteta and backed by sports director Andrea Berta, is willing to take risks in an effort to secure his first Premier League title in 22 years.
Eze is currently planning to join striker Viktor Gyokeres (£55 million), Defender Cristhian Mosquera (£1.3 million), midfielder Martin Zubimendi (60mm), goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga (£5 million), midfielder Christian Norgaard (10m), and £48.5m for £48.5m.
Arteta is scheduled to face the press on the club’s training ground on Friday, and will face Leeds at home on Saturday night for his team’s second match of the season.
