Manchester United boss Reuben Amorim, who managed to leave last year’s gloomy campaign and summer, but who remain knows after Andre Onana, his team must improve significantly this season
Andre Onana has been warned by Reuben Amorim that his place as Manchester United’s No. 1 is under threat. Onana ran a nightmare campaign at Old Trafford following the arrival of £47.2 million from Inter Milan in the summer of 2023.
United are forced to put a new shot stopper on hold, and the 29-year-old Onana begins the opening game for United against Arsenal after recovering from a hamstring injury. However, boss Amorim said: “Andre seems like the other players. They all need to win their place, so I’m not saying if one player is No. 1 or not.
The United boss comes when it’s said from his side that only one player will be in Arsenal’s starting lineup.

Onana conceded an astounding 148 goals in two seasons at Manchester. In 72 Premier League appearances, he was beaten 102 times. Amorim hoped United’s board would sanction the new keeper’s move this summer after dropping Onana in a dangerous spell in April that culminated in the horror show in a Europa League draw in Lyon.
However, it was decided that other regions of Amorim’s team would need to improve first. It was then decided that the club had lavaded £220 million with Benjamin Sesco, Mash Cunya and Brian Mbuemo.
Turkey’s International Altai Bay Indeal failed to impress, prompting United to hand over a one-year contract extension, with 39-year-old veteran Tom Heaton.
