Liverpool won the Premier League title defense by beating Bournemouth 4-2, but Jamie Carrager was not satisfied with the former club’s lack of control
Jamie Carrager has given a poignant verdict on the start of Liverpool’s season despite seeing them beat Bournemouth 4-2. The Reds kicked off their Premier League title defense with a dramatic victory, during which they gave up a two-goal lead in the second half.
Antoine Semeño’s braces reclaimed Bournemouth on level terms before Super Sub Federico Chiesa returned home in the 88th minute and recovered Liverpool’s lead. Mo Salah finished things with a sublime solo goal, and assured the champions had a perfect start, at least in terms of results.
Carragher was not impressed with the Liverpool exhibition. ArneSlot’s side claims it’s just as uncontrollable as the Community Shield last Sunday. Reds legend also picked out Ibrahima Conate and criticized his “really poor” performance after Semeño left him with a second goal for him and Cherry.
Equalizers came after slots made many alternatives to enhance their defense. After the match, Karager made a comment on Sky Sports: “It’s incredible. ArneSlot made these changes to ensure this doesn’t happen.
“When you won 2-1, how many players were ahead of the eight players? That can’t happen. It’s absolutely shocking at this level.

“It’s incredible that Semeño runs that far and takes a shot — but where is Conate going? He had a really, really poor night at centre-back tonight.
“That’s not true. It’s not the case. It’s not just the game on top of the community shield – but I’ve seen enough football in my life.
“Last week, at Community Shield, we rarely felt Liverpool had control of the game, and we can draw 2-2 at the palace.

“But it’s just how easy Crystal Palace is in Liverpool, how easy it was tonight. In the first half, Bournemouth should be at least 2-0 in one stage.
“There’s no doubt that Arne Slot has to solve. People say, ‘We need a centre-back.’ The center back won’t fix it. He takes Konate’s place.
“It’s about the structure of the team attacking two fullbacks and dozens of people like last season who are more interested in getting the ball than defensive. If Liverpool continues like that, I don’t think they’ll win the league.”
