Celtic and the Rangers are reportedly among teams looking to sign Jamie Valdy on a free transfer. After leaving Leicester City at the end of last season, the veteran striker stays without a club. He scored 200 goals in just 500 games for the fox and established himself as a modern legend at King Power Stadium.

Vardy has yet to see his next move, but the 38-year-old has linked to many clubs during the summer window. There is no shortage of interest in his signature as many teams reportedly keep an eye on him. Celtic and the Rangers are said to be among those who have reached out to Vardy’s representative in recent weeks.

According to the Daily Mail, both clubs have been in touch with the player’s camp and have registered their interest in snapping him up. Napoli, the champion of Brentford, Everton and Italy, is said to aim to rival the old company duo for Vardy’s signature.

The report adds that Vardy is not in a hurry to make an immediate decision on where he will resume his football career. He is a free agent, so after the transfer window closes, he can sign the club.

Celtic boss Brendan Rogers refused to rule out Valdi’s move earlier this week as he described the Leicester icon as a “great” player.

“Listen, I don’t talk about individual players,” said Rodgers, who managed Vardy while in charge of Fox.

“Of course I was working really well with Jamie. “It was great for me in my time at Leicester. But no, there were a lot of names coming up. I didn’t reveal anybody.”

Meanwhile, former Everton defender Alan Stubbs thinks Valdi is perfect for Toffee. He spoke about the potential signature in the wake of Monday’s defeat at the hands of Leeds United.

“He’s very different from what we have,” said Stubbs, who appeared on Talksport. “We have two very similar strikers, two big young people, but none of them are direct and most importantly, proven scorers.

“If you look at the players we have, Iliman Ndyai, Jack Grelish and Keenan Dewsbury Hall want to slip the ball on the side and have smart players want them to run. I’m honestly saying Vardy is the perfect player for Everton right now.”

Rangers legend Ally McCoist quickly agreed to Stubbs, saying, “I think it’s an easy and contrast of what you have. Vardy plays on the shoulders.
