Bournemouth expressed shock and anger that the opening match of the Premier League season was overshadowed by an incident of alleged racist abuse against Antoine Megno.

The Friday night match between Cherry and Liverpool at Anfield stopped in the first half after supporters reported that they had said something to him while Semeño was preparing to make a throw-in. Liverpool later issued a statement denounced suspicious behaviour, confirming that police are currently under investigation.

Arne Slot’s side won 4-2 with slow goals from Federico Chiesa and Mohamed Salah. However, Semenyo gave an incredible performance in the second half, scoring twice to bring the away side back into the game.

The Bournemouth winger continued to settle down, pushing in 2-1 into David Brooks’ cross before moving forward with another counterattack to find the bottom corner at 2-2. While full of praise for his teammates, Captain Adam Smith expressed his anger full-time.

“It’s completely unacceptable. It’s like the shock that happened at this age and at an age. I don’t know how Ali played and came up with his goal,” Smith told Sky Sports.

“He’s falling a bit. Something needs to be done. His knees didn’t work. We support him and hopefully it’s fine. I wanted him to respond (after score), and that’s what I did.

“It’s more of annoyed. I was shocked. I wanted him to delete it right away, but the police said they wanted to sort it out and sort it out. The Liverpool players were very supportive of Ali and the other teams, they were very angry.

“We discussed it with the Premier League, so they take it seriously. We don’t know what else we can do. We’ve been doing it for a long time now. No one’s got it.

Andoni Iraora, manager of Bournemouth, added:

“The Liverpool managers and the players they feel the same. Everyone knows that these things have to come anywhere, especially outside of football.

“Now we have to go again to talk to the police and officials. I think he (Semeño) has it in his head.

In a statement, Kick It Out said:

“Two nights ago, Tottenham’s Mattize TEL was racially abused online. This reminds me of the ugly reality. Black players face this week.

“Anthony Taylor and his umpire team deserve credit for acting quickly and decisively. We will continue to push forward this disgusting behavior out of the game through punishment, accountability and education, but football still has a long way to go.”
