Newcastle star Alexander Isaac released a statement on Instagram after choosing to attend the PFA awards ceremony Tuesday night. The striker is said to have wanted to leave Magpie this summer and refuse to play again for the club in hopes of forcing him to move to Liverpool.
The Reds have already seen offers in the £120 million region rejected by Newcastle for the Swedish International, and Arne Slot’s side is said to be preparing a fresh offer. However, Magpies claim that ISAK is not sold regardless.
The forward enjoyed a great campaign last season, scoring 23 goals and registering six assists in 34 Premier League appearances. As a result, ISAK was named the PFA Premier League team for the season, but he chose not to attend the ceremony to attract praise.
The former Real Sociedad star has been aiming for Newcastle by publishing a statement on Instagram, outlining why he didn’t attend, and hinting that his promises have not been met behind the scenes at St. James Park.
He writes: “I am proud to be recognized by fellow experts at the PFA Premier League team location for the 2024/25 season.
“I wasn’t at the ceremony tonight, and it was not right to be there because everything was going on. I kept quiet for a long time while others were talking, and I know that the silence actually wasn’t reflected in what people were actually told and agreed to it behind a closed door.
“The reality is that promises have been made and the clubs have known my position for a long time. Now I’m acting like these issues are emerging. When the promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship is not for me for now.
Isak has been paying attention to on-go on Tyneside over the next few days, with Newcastle trying to sign at least one forward. A second arrival of the attack could encourage the club to allow him to leave. Star Joan Wissa of Brentford and Goncaro Ramos of PSG are among the visible.
