Roy Keene likes the “look” of Manchester United’s new signature and told Reuben Amorim that this season should be about rebuilding. United’s legendary Keene is running the rules surrounding three major additions to the Red Devils. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko.

Cunha and Mbeumo both began United’s first match in the Premier League season with Arsenal, and Sesko, who joined the club on a £74 million transfer contract last week, was named to the bench. The Red Devils also want to sign a midfielder and potential goalkeeper, who have already spent £207.5 million.

Looking forward to the new season, Keene told Sky Sports:

“Even though we’re talking about defense with the goalkeeper, the biggest problem they had during the season was not scoring enough goals, especially if you haven’t got Manchester United when you invested Manchester United, you’re constantly under pressure.

“They obviously tried to fix it this summer. I see the signature in the preseason and know it’s still early, but yeah, the signs are good.

“They brought in two players who obviously knew the Premiership, and they were constantly under pressure because they were robust enough to deal with the challenge and obviously needed a scorer.

The former United captain, who turned his attention to Arsenal’s visit, challenged Sesco to score in his Premier League debut. “This is a big start,” continued Keene, who said before the lineup was confirmed.

“We saw the player already put markers on the weekend, so for the striker, Sesco goes to a new club. Can he launch and run? Can he achieve his goal? Get that trust and belief from his teammates, not just his supporters of the club.”

Amorim believes the Red Devils need to begin rebuilding by turning Old Trafford into a fortress again. “We have to make it a fun place for our fans. That’s really important,” the Portuguese said.

“We’re going to start with one game against Arsenal, a very good team. Everyone in this room thinks Arsenal will win. I know that. But we’re there to change things.”
