Football fans are in shock after Ebelech Eze’s fierce strike against Chelsea was ruled out. Crystal Palace appeared to have taken the lead against the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Linked to this month’s move to Tottenham, Eze stepped up from a free kick to produce a rocket of shots that beat Robert Sanchez with a score goreless and pace. The Eagles were sent to joy as they discovered the net was being pressured by their West London opponents.

However, after seeing Mark Guech force Moises Caseko out of the way of the shot’s route, he was deemed to have come too close to the wall, and the goal was taken out of the choke. Judge Darren England was sent to the monitor to rule out the strike.

Officials have released his accounts for the stadium and the stadium he is watching from his home. After rewatching the footage, England said: “After reviews, when the shot is taken, it’s less than a metre from the wall. So it’s an indirect free kick and an unauthorized goal.”

It was a decision and rules that disrupt audiences around the world, and many people hadn’t come across the rules before.

“I sometimes ask in football where I ask if something is right or wrong,” said Sky Sports’ Chris Sutton. “And it just looks strong, strong and tough.”

“Is that a new rule that it’s too close to the wall?” said one fan. “Because I don’t remember the one goal that was chalked for that.”

“A scary decision,” another added. “Remind me that “walls” are not actually defined anywhere. It’s impossible to be one yard away from something that’s not defined.”

“They didn’t just score a goal because he was too close to the wall but didn’t interfere with the wall itself?” he said another. “For the first time I saw a free-kick goal being dominated by getting too close to the wall. Soccer is over,” he lamented social media users.

“So Guehi was too close to the Chelsea wall? So, Kaiseko’s lack of strength actually benefited them,” another said. “What a horrifying decision. The Chelsea player wasn’t complaining.”

“I’ve never heard of the rule that players must be more than a metre from the wall because it rarely applies once they’re introduced,” the fans further said. “When Var says he’s checking for a foul, he’s very confused.”

Another was provided: “1. When did that rule come into effect? 2. Will it come into effect again?”

An even more confused audience said, “It’s because he was getting too close to the wall, but the ball didn’t go near the wall… So how did Guehi affect him? The referee in this country is an absolute confusion.”
