Individuals accused of racially abused at Bournemouth star Anfield were slapped in bans from all football stadiums. On the first day of the season, a shocking incident occurred involving Cherries forwards.

Play was temporarily suspended after Semenyo reported the case to the umpire in the 29th minute of the Bournemouth match against Liverpool. The 47-year-old man was arrested on Saturday, and Merseyside police confirmed he was released on bail and banned from all football fields in the UK while the investigation is underway.

A statement issued Monday stated, “We can confirm that the man has been conditionally released on bail after being arrested following reports that racist abuse was directed at Antoine Semeño of Bournemouth.

“The 47-year-old Liverpool man was arrested on Saturday, August 16th on suspicion of racially aggravated public order crimes. He is currently bailed out on conditions that include not attending a regulated football match in the UK and not going within a mile of a designated football stadium.

“The investigation into the incident that occurred during Liverpool and Bournemouth Premier League matches at Liverpool and Anfield on Friday, August 15th, is ongoing and we continue to work closely with the club.”

Semeño, who had won the net twice to pull out Bournemouth level before Liverpool scored the victory with two late goals, issued a heartfelt statement after the incident.

He declared:

“Thank you to my @AFCB teammates who supported me in that moment, to the fans who showed @liverpoolfc players and their real characters, to the @premierleague officials who worked with it professionally.

“Getting these two goals felt like speaking the only language that really matters on the pitch. This is why I play – at moments like this for my teammates, for everyone who believes what this beautiful game is.

“The overwhelming message of support from the whole football world reminds me of why I love the sport. We will continue to move forward together.”

Semeño and Bournemouth will return to action this weekend when they face the wolves at Vitality Stadium.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures are watching them travel to Newcastle at St. James Park.
