Alan Shearer was part of the Panditry team as he introduced the match against Liverpool and Bournemouth in the first match of the new Premier League season.
Match of the Day Pandit Alan Shearer hiccups at the first show of the new season. The former England striker targeted Liverpool debutant Milos Karques for the HIA part on Friday night with a Bournemouth goal…just to point out that the left back is no longer on the pitch.
Premier League champions Liverpool took a 2-0 lead early in the second half. However, Kerkez and fellow fullback Jeremy Fripon left the field just before the time mark. And Cherry regained the bevel before the two late Liverpool goals changed things again.
“There’s Kerquez, there. He’s on the way to attack when he doesn’t even have it. So he’s in a five-yard or six-yard position,” Shearer said in a replay of Antoine Cementho’s first goal against a visitor.
Of course, it wasn’t Kerquez, but the then left-back substitute Andy Robertson, and many fans pointed this out on social media. “Motd’s shearer slugs Kerkez for his initial target of being too attacked, even if he’s already primed.
“Absolute Berter from MOTD last night. Shearer did Kerkez for being away from Bournemouth’s first goal position,” another said. “Technically, he wasn’t even on the pitch, so I think the facts didn’t get in the way of good stories.”

Liverpool’s defense remained a bit desired, but they showed what they could do on the other side of the pitch. After Semenyo scored twice to score the side of Stun Arne Slot, Federico Chiesa recovered the Reds’ advantages in the second half before Mohamed Salah added a stop time to fourth.
“Federico today comes from the bench, so he’s a special player for us who train every day,” Liverpool goalkeeper Alison said of the super sub-chiesa after the victory. “Everyone knows that his situation wasn’t that easy in the summer, but he continues to work hard and today he gets the reward for winning our winner.”
Match of the Day episode was the first of the show’s new post-Gary line car era. Mark Chapman anchored the Saturday night show, but Gabby Logan and Kelly Cates will be honored at other points of the season.
“We’ve all worked in sports, and it’s first and foremost about experts and we’re making the most of critics, and that’s what’s most important to us,” Chapman said that week. “But for me, this is a thriving show. It’s a show that I want to continue doing what has been done so far.”
