Liverpool confirmed that Darwin Nunes completed his move to Al Hilal over the weekend and the Uruguayan striker wrote a farewell message to the club’s fans
Darwin Nunes thanked Liverpool fans for “always having his back” after completing his Saudi Arabian professional league transfer alongside Al Hilal over the weekend.
The 26-year-old Uruguayan striker moved to Merseyside three years ago, but found a surplus in his requirements at Anfield ahead of a new season in which Hugo Ekicchike became the target of Entracht Frankfurt and Alexander Isaac as the newly created Premier League champions.
Nunez is often used from the Arne Slot’s bench, starting eight Premier League matches last season, scoring five times in a total of 30 appearances. And after agreeing to a transfer worth around £46.3 million, Nunes wrote an emotional farewell message to Liverpool supporters on social media.

He writes: “Thank you, Liverpool. Three years from now it’s time to say goodbye.
“I will bring countless memories of living with me forever. I will never let me down, and leave thanks to the love of the crowd who always had a back, thanks to the love of the best crowd, and thanks to the love of the best crowd.
“Liverpool has always been a part of me. I miss you more than the words can say. To all my staff and teammates – thank you, and the best for the future.”
Liverpool is expected to pursue another No. 9 after granting Nunes exit and before the transfer window closes. They also sold Louis Diaz to Bayern Munich, which they haven’t seen yet.

After his defeat to Crystal Palace at Community Shield, Virgil Vandic has highlighted that he feels the club needs to be added to the offense, referring to the fact that both Nunes and Diaz have now moved.
“Well, we lost Darwin, he went to Saudi Arabia, he lost Lucho (Luis Diaz). Clearly he went to Bayern,” the Reds captain told Turksport.
“I think there’s always room for attackers to bolster us, so let’s see what the window brings in terms of team balance.”
