Rasmus Hojlund reportedly got xed by the Manchester United team for a match against Arsenal. Reuben Amorim’s side opened a Premier League campaign at Old Trafford today, kicking off with the gunners at 4:30pm.
Hojlund, 22, is linked to this summer’s move. The arrival of Benjamin Sesco and Brian Mbemo has given him even more doubt about his future, and since making a £72 million move from Atalanta two years ago, Dane has struggled with his form. Now it appears he has been sent a message that the club has no future.
According to Touchline, Hojlund will not be participating in today’s match. He is said to have expressed his desire to remain at United and fight for his place despite being said he would likely struggle with game time.
The 22-year-old Hojlund has played for the club 95 times in the past two seasons and scored 26 times. However, 14 of these targets have come in the Premier League, and AC Milan has begun discussions with United about potential deals.
The development appears to be a clear indicator that Sesco will debut this afternoon. The 22-year-old arrived only on a transfer worth up to £73.7 million last week from RB Leipzig, and was also a target for Newcastle.
Amorim vowed to improve his side this season after a disastrous campaign in 2024/25. At a pre-game press conference this week, he insisted that the team suited his playing style.
“We can’t change everything in four weeks, but we’re better,” he said. “We’re training harder and ready to deal with the demands of the game. I’m really confident, and it’s clear.”
He also spoke about the need for players to turn Old Trafford into a fortress again, adding, “We have to make it a fun place for the fans. That’s really important.”
