PGMOL clarifies why Eberechi Eze’s goal was not allowed? Chelsea | Soccer | Sports

PGMOL explained why Crystal Palace Ebeki Eze’s strike against Chelsea was allowed. The 27-year-old forward seemed to give Palace a 1-0 advantage by unleashing a thunderous free kick over Robert Sanchez during the opening period at Stamford Bridge.

However, a lengthy VAR review followed, and the goal was then removed. Stockley Park officials determined that Eagles centre back Marcguech was “less than a metre from the Chelsea wall” when the shot was fired.

A statement from X’s Premier League match center account stated: “After the VAR review, the judge overturned the original decision on the target for Crystal Palace. The judge’s announcement: “After the review, when the shot is taken, it is less than a meter from the wall.

Regulations stipulate that until the ball is played, all opponents must remain at least 9.15m (10 yards) from the ball unless they are on their own goal line between the goal posts and outside the penalty area for free kicks within the opponent’s penalty area.

If there are more than three opponents on the wall, all attackers must be at least 1m (1 yard) from the wall until the ball plays.

Palace supporters cried out, “It’s not football anymore,” after confirming that Eze’s efforts had been choked.

Contribute to VAR’s busy days during the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign. The controversial moment of Liverpool’s 4-2 victory over Bournemouth also creates important debate.

Chelsea set-piece coach Bernardo Cueva was found discussing with the fourth official Michael Salisbury shortly after Eze’s goal.

Queva has been troubled by Guehi’s actions in putting Kaiseko aside. However, it was Guehi’s position, not push that led to the ban on goals.

“If this is ruled out, this is scandalous,” Sky Sports commentator Chris Sutton said before realising exactly what the issue was. “It seems very strict.”
