Mason Greenwood was at the heart of a fierce brawl after winning Marseille in a 3-1 victory at Aston Villa.
Former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood was involved in a brawl on the pitch during his preseason victory over Marseille Aston Villa. The League One side defeated Unai Emery’s villain 3-1 during the warm-up meeting on Saturday, but the fixture was not friendly.
Greenwood put his side ahead of John McGinn in just five minutes before he was equal. Former Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang scored twice to secure a victory for the French side, and Emery’s men fell to a fifth pre-season loss.
Frustration erupted after Greenwood, bouncing back a string of talented challenges, and after the Villa midfielder made a pass, Amadou Onana stumbling ironically from behind. Onana appeared to be taking an exception to the challenge, and the pair began to spread to each other.

Greenwood is seen laughing with a Belgian face, and at first glance it appears that he blew away the raspberries with a masturbation. Things escalated then when his villa teammate Tyrone Mings stepped in and the defender grabbed a Greenwood jersey and dragged him back and forth.
Players from both teams intervened to separate the pair, leaving Greenwood’s shirts torn apart. However, despite their violent behavior, neither player was able to show the red card.
The 23-year-old Greenwood took him to Instagram after the match to share a snapshot of his victory, but did not mention any altercations on the pitch.
One image showed him celebrating with his teammates. He also reposted a clip of himself shrugging from the Mings challenge before pushing over the opening goal.
Greenwood parted ways with the Red Devils last summer amid a club suspension in January 2022 and allegations of rape, assault, control and forced conduct. All fees were then removed and Winger rented it to Getafe on the summer deadline of 2023.
The permanent move to Marseille in 2024 included a substantial sale clause in the transaction if Marseille decided to offload him in the future.
Greenwood scored 21 league goals last season and there were reports that he could set up to return to the Premier League. However, the transfer did not come true. Greenwood is set to represent Marseille in the Champions League this season.
