Liverpool led Alexander Isaac’s second bid to the table, and Virgil van Dyke appears to have threw his support behind the move to break the UK’s transfer record

Virgil Van Dijk strongly hinted that he wanted Liverpool to defeat the bank and sign Alexander Isak. Liverpool has already seen the British record offer worth £120 million, which was rejected by Newcastle.

Isaac, 25, told the Newcastle hierarchy that he wanted to leave, and the Magpie is scrutinizing the market for potential replacements for the Star Striker. Liverpool has already spent £79 million on Hugo Ekichique, but they hope to add more firepower in light of the event this summer.

Tragedy struck when Diogo Jota was killed in a car accident last month. It leaves a room on the forward line, and Isaac is advertised to fill the blanks.

Arne Slot remained nervous after Liverpool’s pursuit of the Swedish, supporting the current forward option ahead of Sunday’s defeat to Crystal Palace at Community Shield. However, after the match, Van Dik suggested that his club needs to strengthen.

When asked if Liverpool’s team was short on attackers, the Liverpool captain replied:

“These are three senior attackers. I completely trust the club to do the right thing – what they think is good for the club.”

There was a heated debate about where Liverpool needed Isaac. Before the palace match, Slot declared: “I think we already have a lot of offensive power in our team,” the Liverpool manager said last week.

“I am thinking about Cody Gapppo, Federico Chiesa, Hugo Echicicke, Mo Sarah, Jeremy Fripon, Jeremy Fripon, who can play as a right winger, and Florian Wiltz who can play as a left winger… I already feel that I have a lot of offensive options in my squad, but I always see it as a club, in the market, if it is in the market, as a club.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carrager is not sure the Reds should pay such a large fee. “It’s going to be a great signing, but from the perspective of Liverpool fans, I don’t want the club to spend £150 million on ISAK,” Carragher said of the overlap.

“I could imagine him being one target for Liverpool, but there’s something about Liverpool buying a striker (ekitike) for £800,000 and he’s a backup.

“I saw Isaac and he clearly threw his toys out of the pram when Arsenal and Liverpool signed the striker. From the perspective of him and his agents, did they not say they wanted to move on a few months ago?

“When you think of Liverpool, it doesn’t look like it’s really planned. I don’t think there’s any plan to sign the striker for £800,000 and sign it for £120 million. I feel a bit of Ekitique.

“I want Liverpool to sign Isaac, and for me, £150 million feels like (Kilian) Mbappe. Mbappe needs to be available for £150 million.”
