Reports say Eberechi Eze is expected to miss the Premier League opening game against Chelsea as Crystal Palace approaches Tottenham Hotspur. The Eagles will visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday, but appear to travel without one of the star players amidst a strong interest from the Spurs.
Eze is thought to be interested in the Switch where Champions League football is offered in North London as Tottenham continues to talk to the Palace on his transfer fees. The 27-year-old was also the subject of interest from Arsenal, but Mikel Arteta prioritized adding Noni Madueke and Victor Gyoker to the offense.
The Spurs are working to sign a deal with the palace after Eze’s £68 million release clause expired Friday.
According to the Sun, he will not play a role in the palace’s Chelsea trip, indicating that his transfer agreement may be on the verge of.
Thomas Frank has already added Mohamed Kudus to his attack from West Ham United, completing a £55 million deal this summer.
However, after James Madison suffered anterior cruciate ligament injury that removed him from most of the campaign, the Spurs were forced to take further action.

Eze may not be the last offensive arrival at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Lily White continues to talk to Manchester City over Sabigno.
Spurs reportedly saw a bid worth £60 million after the 21-year-old winger was denied, and the city demanded up to £70 million.
It is still unclear whether they will return to the table, but Eze’s arrival will ease the need for further reinforcement of Frank’s attack.
Eze has scored 40 goals and provided 28 assists in 168 appearances for Palace since arriving from Queens Park Rangers in 2020.
