Liverpool’s Premier League opening game against Bournemouth on Friday night will be a moving event more than a month ago, following the heartbreaking loss of 28-year-old Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva, 25. Anfield will also be welcoming Jota’s wife, Root Kaldoso, for the club’s first league fixtures.
Jota and his brothers tragically lost their lives in a car accident near Zamora, Spain on July 3, causing the football community to be in shock and mourning. Rute and Jota began their relationship in 2013 and were married 11 days before his untimely death. Since the tragic accident, the route has been largely quiet, and with a few exceptions I have personally chosen to mourn. Express Sport is currently delving into the tributes made by Cardoso, her family and fans, preparing herself for a return to Anfield.
Attend Anfield
Liverpool fans are excited to see the Premier League champions return to the pitch, but the people of Anfield and viewers at home also get emotionally recharged.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed in his program that Rute and her three children, Duarte, and the youngest child whose names have not been published, are present in the stands to watch Liverpool’s opening match.
“I believe Diogo’s wife, his children and his family will be present,” Slot wrote. “And as a club, it’s important to show that when they deal with this most tragic situation, they always have our love and support. We’re always there for them.”
This weekend, moments of silence will also be observed on all the equipment in the Premier League, with players wearing black armbands. The tributes and photos will also be displayed on the large screen of the late Liverpool striker’s stadium.
Anfield Floral Tribute
The route has visited Anfield since the deaths of Jota and Andre Silva. On July 11, Rute and relatives of Jota and Andre Silva’s family were joined by the Liverpool team as they witnessed the respect of thousands of flowers in the memory of their brothers.
Photos of the visit were shared on Liverpool FC’s official Instagram account. The post was captioned. “Our team and staff today paid tribute to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva of Anfield along with members of the brothers’ family.”
Helping disabled people at funerals
The joint funeral of Jota and Andre Silva took place on July 5th in Gondomar, Portugal. Past and present family, friends and teammates attended. ffin was taken to the church of Igreja Matriz de Gondomar.
Although he struggles to understand his overwhelming sadness, he still resolves to support him, Root is visible in a deep emotional state, helping the lady with his brother, Fffins. This happened after a journey back to Gondomar with Jota’s body before the funeral.
Jota and Root met for the first time in Gondoma while they were in their teens. She wanted her husband to return to where their love stories originally began.
Anniversary tribute
Root has yet to speak extensively publicly about the tragic deaths of her husband and stepbrothers. However, she shared a heartbreaking Instagram post featuring her June 22nd wedding and Jota.
The images featured intimate shots of a pair holding hands, clearly visible, with their marriage leaders clasped. Two additional photos filmed the couple enjoying their first dance as newlyweds. The route, translated from Portuguese to English, is “Our “We will play our role until we die.” Forever, your bride. “It writes.
Her latest social media posts
The pair frequently used Instagram to showcase their dedication and love for each other. A few days before he passed away, Jota posted a video from the wedding, accompanied by the words “the day we will never forget.”
Root also took it to a social media platform before returning to Merseyside, posting photos of Jota and one of her children on Lake Windermere to her story. She captioned: “My Perfect Type of Birthday”, two pink hearts.
It’s unclear whether Friday is Rute’s birthday, but it shows how she uses the platform to bring her husband’s memories to life very much.
