Brighton fans die after drawing of Fulham as club CEOs issue emotional statements | Football | Sports

Brighton and Hove Albion confirmed that one of the supporters had passed away after their match against Fulham on Saturday. In a statement, they said the 72-year-old man felt sick late in the match at Amex Stadium. He was treated by emergency services and medical staff who managed CPR and defibrillation on the scene.

Privacy screens were built as men continued to receive treatment at the stadium. Brighton said he considered stopping the match, but he didn’t decide not to decide because the majority of the supporters and both players sets were unaware of what was going on. Despite the best efforts of the medical staff, this man was asserted to be dead after the last whi.

“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the process of exploring the world,” said Paul Barber, CEO of Brighton.

“The gentlemen involved are most important in our minds, but we also recognize that it is an emotional and disastrous situation for our immediate staff and supporters.

Paul Galloway, a club doctor and emergency medical consultant, added: “First, I would like to express my sadness and sympathy to the gentleman’s family and friends.

“It was a tragic result, but from an emergency response perspective, healthcare was exemplary and the professionalism of Club Stewards and Sussex Police provided the best possible work environment for the healthcare team.”

Shortly after the tragic news was announced, Fulham posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

“We are spreading our deepest sympathy with Brighton and Hove Albion FC, all of their fans, players and staff.”

Brighton was denied a victory in the opening game of the Premier League. Fulham’s late goal ensured that the booty was shared. The hosts looked closely at most of the contest and were rewarded after a break when Matt Orly converted from the penalty spot.

They were on the course to launch the campaign with the deserved victory until Rodrigo Muniz was deeply equal in stop time. He diverted the ball from the corner and gave Fulham a dramatic point over the opening weekend.

Brighton will be the first visitor to Hill Dickinson Stadium when he faces Everton next weekend, but Fulham will entertain Manchester United in Craven Cottage’s home soil.
