Manchester United spends more than £200 million in their summer transfer period, with three forwards arriving to strengthen Reuben Amorim’s team and more deals in the pipeline

Manchester United have spent more than £200 million to completely revamp their attacks at the summer transfer window and improve their horrifying 2024/25 campaign, but it hasn’t been done yet.

United have signed Matheus Cunha (£62.5 million from the wolf), Bryan Mbeumo (£71 million from Brentford) and Benjamin Sesko (£74 million from RB Leipzig). They also welcome left-back Diego Leon from Paraguayan’s side Cerro Porteno in a deal that could reach £7 million.

Amorim’s side will launch a Premier League campaign with Arsenal on Sunday, but a lot of business remains before the transfer window closes on September 1st. With the loss of the Europa League final in 15th place last season, improvements are clearly needed, and the club is hoping to add more doors.

Early in the summer, Amorim explained the blueprint for his target. “We want players who have already proven themselves,” he said. “There are players with a lot of potential, and you need to be aware of that, but you need to know every player that’s coming, you need to know who you are, you need to talk to the players, you need to explain the project.

“And one of the things that really matters is they want to come here. That’s the key point. If we can find someone in the market that helps the team and has all of those boxes, we’re trying to do it.”

The next priority for the former sports Lisbon boss is the deep lying midfielder. Amorim defended Casemiro alongside Captain Bruno Fernandez in his final preseason friend with Fiorentina on Saturday, but the veteran has no legs to play the role. Manuel Ugarte hasn’t been convinced since his arrival from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, but Cobby Mine is a great box-to-box midfielder.

Carlos Baleba is a position transfer target, but Brighton’s £100 million valuation is backed by the fact that he has three years on the contract, but that deal could be extremely difficult. They previously linked Atalanta midfielder Adason, who is valued at around £52 million, and Morten hjulmand, a sport well known to Amorim.

Another main transfer priority was the goal, where Andre Onana and Altai Beyindeal failed to persuade him. United are linked to Aston Villa’s Emi Martinez, PSG’s Gianluigi Donnaruma and Royal Antwerp’s Senne Rammen.

Onana is expected to remain in place and United will need to secure a Bay Indeal exit before signing a new goalkeeper. Runmen is the most realistic of the three aforementioned keepers, with Antwerp already signing his replacement, but PSG is ready to say goodbye to Donnarumma for the knockdown price.

The problem with United is that they need to sell players before they can buy it. With the summer started with five members of “The Bomb Squad,” there are still four people on the scene, Marcus Rashford is the only one left so far, Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are still in the book.

Garnacho is the subject of Chelsea’s interest, and Chelsea first asked about the availability of wingers in January. He agreed to personal terms with the Bruce over a permanent transfer, but negotiations are ongoing beyond the transfer fee.

Sancho appeared nearby joining Galatasaray and Juventus before those movements became quiet. He is still linked to his move to Italy, and although Inter Milan and Rome are reportedly enthusiastic, he is likely to make a comeback to Borussia Dortmund.

Antony wants to rejoin the real Betis he loaned last season, but United are on the verge of a permanent move at the best possible price. Meanwhile, United had little interest in Malacia, but his club career was ruined by injuries.

What you say! Should Manchester United prioritize this summer? Please comment below.

The arrival of Sesko made the future of Rasmus Hojlund seriously doubt. United are willing to sell the Danish striker for around £30 million. Thanks to the spell in Atalanta, he is still interested from Italy in the form of the highly-reputed AC Milan.

Another possible departure concerns Toby Collier, who is in the order of Amorim’s team. The midfielder hasn’t come off the bench against Fiorentina and could be sent on loan to get regular game times. He and left-back Harry Anas are reportedly targeted by Sheffield, the championship side, which was hit by crisis on Wednesday.
