Liverpool is locked up in a signature of Palma defender Giovan Nileoni after the 18-year-old star agreed to join the Premier League champions in the summer transfer window
Liverpool is a step away from signing Giovanni Leoni from Palma after reaching an agreement with the young defender.
Miller Football reported on Tuesday that the Reds would like to sign Leoni and Crystal Palace captain Mark Guech to strengthen their defenses. Jarrell Cuanza’s £35 million sale cut short on the Arne Slots in the central defense with sales to Bayer Lebakusen.
Both Slot and Van Dijk identified defense as the weakest aspect of the side after a penalty defeat by the Community Shield Crystal Palace. Liverpool has already spent over £300 million and has introduced Hugo Ekitique, Florian Wiltz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremy Fripon, Armin Pess and Freddie Woodman, but it hasn’t stopped there.
Leoni caught the eye of Liverpool scouts. Sky Sports Germany says there is a full verbal agreement between the 18-year-old and the Reds over personal terms.

Liverpool currently needs to talk to Palma about transfer fees, but according to Talksport, they don’t expect any difficulties. Despite having a contract with the Italian side until June 2029, Leoni is expected to cost around £30 million.
He highly recommends, and Liverpool has received passionate support from Arrigo Sacchi. “We’ll see if the deal is closed, but I think either way, the Reds will make a big move by signing this young man who continued with interest and curiosity later last season.” “I’m sure he’ll be a lynchpin in Azuri defense for a long time.”
Leoni represents Italy under the age of 19, but Parma has only 17 contestants and one goal. All of that came to last season. Sacchi, who managed AC Milan and Italy during his successful coaching career, is confident that Liverpool is still earning bargains despite his lack of experience.
“The opposition is that the young man has only appeared in 17 Series so far, regarding the possibility of a move to Liverpool.
“If someone is good, if someone has a head in the right place, it’s immediately clear. A person can have 200 Serie A games under the belt, and Leoni does not have the qualities that appear in his first season as an adult. Talent doesn’t know age.
“Let’s also give him the opportunity to make mistakes. At 18, some mistakes can be expected and forgiven. And in any case, Leoni doesn’t make much. He’s already learning basic lessons and is doing his best with his head bowing.”
