Bournemouth is on the verge of securing a deal with Liverpool’s young forward Bend Ag, and the transfer fee is believed to be around £25 million.
The 19-year-old has joined the radar for FC Porto and Premier League clubs, including Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham following an impressive loan stint at Championship Side Middlesbrough last season.
However, Bournemouth appears to be in pole position to sign the Scotland International, which moved from Celtic to Liverpool in May 2022 for just £600,000.
Bournemouth is ready to meet Liverpool’s £25 million asking price, according to the Liverpool Echo.
On a 2024-25 season loan at Middlesbrough, Doak scored three goals and provided seven assists in 24 championship matches, with a hamstring injury in January shortening his season.
Before his injury, the towns of Crystal Palace and Ipswich had expressed interest in the forward.
Doak, who has made 10 senior appearances at Liverpool, was an unused replacement in Sunday’s FA Cup Community Shield loss to Crystal Palace.
Bournemouth is keen to bolster its attack options after agreeing to sell Dango Oattara to Brentford in a potential deal worth up to £42.5 million.
Liverpool will host Bournemouth at Anfield on Friday night, hosting it in the opening Premier League match of the new season.
It promises to be a heart-warming night for the Reds when they play their first Premier League match since Diogo Jota’s tragic pass last month.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot revealed that attendance at Anfield on Friday night is expected to be attended by Jota’s wife and three children.
“I know this is a very emotional opportunity given that it’s my first league game since losing Diogo and Andre,” wrote slot in his program notes.
“As I said before, I know that the compliments paid throughout the football world, especially within the LFC community, are truly special and we’re coming together to celebrate them once again tonight.
“We believe Diogo’s wife and his family will be present, and it’s important that as a club, they always show that when they deal with this most tragic situation, they have our love and support. We’ll always be there for them.”
Slots are expected to pass a competitive home debut to many new players, including Jeremy Fripon, Milos Kerquez, Florian Wiltz and Hugo Ekitique as the Reds begin their title defense at Anfield.
Liverpool doesn’t have key midfielder Rien Graygun Bellch, who was stopped after being sent to Crystal Palace in last season’s final match.
