Arne Slot has revealed that Diogo Jota’s family will be attending Anfield for the Premier League opening match against Bournemouth. Jota tragically lost his life last month in a car accident shortly after his wedding.
The soccer player married long-term partner Root Kaldoso in June and has three children together. Jota’s family is scheduled to attend Liverpool’s first league match since his untimely death.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot wrote in his program notes ahead of the match:
“We believe Diogo’s wife, his children and his family will be present, and it is important that as a club, they always show that when they deal with this most tragic situation, they have our love and support. We will always be there for them.”
His teammate Alexis Mac Alistair recently provided a sincere tribute to Jota and shared insights into their relationship. “There are people in the group who will hold a special place in our hearts forever,” he expressed in the player’s tribune.
“Obviously and with great emotion, I want to dedicate this paragraph to Diogo. I don’t understand how he left us that early. I’ve always had a good relationship with him, but even more so this past year.
“He was always a very realistic and family conscious person and he didn’t try to pretend that he wasn’t. One day he came and gave him a lifelong embrace.
“We loved to ‘take a P***’. And whether it was our Messi vs Cristiano argument or simply Trump, we’ve always found our way. It was part of the game. I always choose to remember him with a smile.
“And with that smile I know he’s supporting us from above. If you don’t believe it, look at the moment you score on the Community Shield. 20th. These are signs….
“I would like to use this opportunity to send my warmest respect to his family, which we should never forget, as they are those who suffer the most from the tragic passage of him and his brother Andre. My respect and love for all of them.”
