Liverpool has released a documentary that includes invisible footage of the late club’s icon Dio Gojota.
Diogo Jota said his life work reached the pinnacle of his final and perhaps most important Liverpool goal. The winner against Everton, approaching his Premier League victory in April, scored the final goal Jota scored for the club before his tragic death.
In footage from Jota’s record shortly before his death in July, Portugal International detailed the importance of that moment in the season when he was confused by his injuries. The Liverpool icon sadly passed away in a car accident last month along with his brother, aiming to return to England from Spain.
Jota’s final interview with the Merseyside Club is on display as part of Champions 24-25: Inside Story, a documentary from Liverpool’s title victory season. This feature was dedicated to the forwards, narrating the season with the likes of Virgil Van Dyke and Alexis Mac Alistair.
In a moving speech, Jota explains what bagging goals against Everton meant to him in Liverpool’s quest for the title. Especially after a tough year despite the good shape of the team.
“It was a very tough season for me, but I’ve always been fighting there and I can help my team that day and I’m still proud to be able to do,” he said.

“It’s hard to explain. That’s the feeling I’m looking for when playing football. So you put your life and all your efforts in such a moment, in which you can decide the important game.
“The best way to be a striker is to score goals. Keep on looking for those moments. You’re just amazing. You could help the team that day and build momentum from there. Ultimately, that was the decisive week.”
Jota won his first Premier League title in Liverpool colour to experience the success of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup. It was a victory the former wolf star didn’t even dream of in his youth.
“It’s something I couldn’t even dream of as a kid. I wanted to play in the Premier League, but I couldn’t imagine winning,” he said.
And with the emotional ending of the documentary, Jota reflects on the celebration that follows. Winning clearly meant a lot.
“A photo that can be shown forever,” commented Jota. “For a little man from Gondama, I am an amazing achievement for a little man who had this dream. In the end we did it. But it is an amazing achievement, so it’s a moment that we cherish forever, like I said.”
