UEFA presented a message to the world ahead of the Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain Super Cup finals
UEFA has sent a message asking children and civilians to be stopped being killed amid ongoing conflict in Gaza. The European governing body was flagged before the UEFA Super Cup clash between Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday evening.
The banner was laid out on the pitch in front of the team, reading “Stop killing children, stop killing civilians.” This message was captured when the sides were lined up for pre-match photos with UEFA iconography in the background.
On social media, UEFA has repeated its message to the audience, beyond those watching the winners of the Champions League and Europa League in Italy. Uefa said:
The Nion-based federation came to criticize the weekend after his death, paying homage to a footballer known as “Palestine Pele.” According to the Palestinian Football Association (PFA), Suleiman al-Ouid was killed in an Israeli attack in southern Gaza.
Obeid was killed when civilians waiting for humanitarian assistance by Israeli forces were attacked by the PFA. The 41-year-old survives by his wife and children, and his family has seen him “a tribute poured in because he was “recognised as one of the brightest stars of Palestinian football.”

“Suleyman al-Obaid, ‘Palestine Pere’, body posted on Susial Media. “A talent that gave countless children hope, even in the darkest times.”
Liverpool star Mohamed Sarah has called for UEFA on social media. Egypt International quoted the UEFA message and quickly highlighted his issue in a post to Obeid.
“Can you tell me how he died, where and why?” Sarah posted on X.
After Obei’s death, the PFA reported that football was just one of the hundreds of sportsmen who lost their lives in Gaza. At least 662 athletes and their relatives are allegedly killed during the Israeli attack as of the weekend.
“The number of murdered soccer players or people who died of starvation reached 421, including 103 children,” the PFA said.
Sarah has previously spoken about the devastation that is taking place in the Middle East. “It’s not always easy to talk about in times like these,” he said.
“There’s been too much violence and too much heartbreaking atrocities. The escalations over the past few weeks are unbearable to witness.
“All lives must be sacred and protected. The genocide needs to stop. The families are torn apart. What is clear now is that humanitarian assistance to Gaza must be granted immediately.
“Last night’s hospital scene was horrifying. The Gaza people are in urgent need of food, water and medical supplies. I am calling on world leaders to gather together to prevent further massacres of all innocent souls. Humanity must win.”
