Manchester United spent over £200 million on three forwards during the summer transfer period, while Rio Ferdinand did not approve of adding another striker – even free
Rio Ferdinand forgot to sign Dominic Calvert Lewin to Manchester United and told the mysterious Chido Obi to place their faith. Calvert-Lewin, 28, is out of club after his contract with Everton expired in June.
The striker has linked to a free transfer to Old Trafford and Newcastle and Leeds, hoping to rediscover his best form at the World Cup next summer and play for England. Of course, United already signed a new striker during the summer transfer period, and has signed a £74 million contract in the race for RB Leipzig Hotshot Benjamin Sesco.
However, unlike Calvert-Lewin, Sesko has no Premier League experience and is speculated to consider making Red-Everton Star an offer for a contract. Ferdinand wants to see 17-year-old Obi, who has been given minutes instead, so it’s safe to say that Ferdinand will be against the move.
When Calvert Lewin was placed as a former United defender who said he could become a target for the Red Devils, Ferdinand wrote on his YouTube channel, “Dominique Calvert Lewin? What are you chatting about?”
“Calvert Lewin can’t stay healthy. No. Why are they taking him to this club? This club is built in the academy and Chido Obi is sitting there.

“Not someone who is older and can’t stay healthy, I’ll play him if some games need someone. Sign Calvert Lewin? No, sorry, I don’t agree on a massive scale, I don’t agree on a massive scale.
Obi made his debut in February by United boss Reuben Amorim, and made five more appearances by the end of last season. Dane became prominent after scoring an incredible 32 goals in just 18 games for Arsenal under 18 before joining the Red Devils at nominal fees last year.
Danish manager Brian Reamer recently labeled Obi as “incredibly exciting,” saying Vipley, citing TipsBladet.

Ferdinand’s comments come as United prepares to sell Rasmus Hozilund to AC Milan. Hojlund endured two difficult seasons with Red Devils following a £72 million move from Atalanta, and was pushed down the pecking order by the arrival of Sesko.
The deal is worth around £40 million and could fund United’s business in other areas. Amorim is reportedly targeting midfielders with Brighton star Carlos Bailba appearing on the nominee list.
The goalkeeper can also sign to provide Andre Onana’s competition. Manchester City is a favorite to land his signature and is said to have agreed to the personal terminology, but it is linked to Paris Saint-Germain shot stopper Gian Louis Donnarumma.
In addition to Hozilund, United are willing to sell Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia. Amorim’s side will launch a Premier League campaign at his Arsenal home on Sunday.
