Manchester United is said to have just signed Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa to secure a top five finish in the Champions League
Manchester United has been advised that another important signature will ensure a top five finish. Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. Reuben Amorim has struggled to rebuild his team this summer after shining his first season in the Premier League.
United’s offensive prowess has been greatly enhanced by the signatures of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko. Brighton star Carlos Valleva is also riding United’s radar as he aims to bolster his midfield options.
However, Amorim still faces a goal challenge as he seeks to offer the competition for current No. 1 Keeper Andre Onana. The Cameroonian sat in United’s preseason due to a hamstring injury and committed several famous mistakes from last season.

Gianluigi Donnaruma of Paris Saint-Germain is being promoted as a potential addition at Old Trafford. However, French newspaper L’Equipe reports that an agreement has already been reached between him and his local rival Manchester City, and it appears that Pep Guardiola will be blocking the move to United despite already reviving James Trafford from Burnley this summer.
Former United and Wrexham shot stopper Ben Foster has urged his former club to draw attention to signing Martinez at Villa. The Argentinian Loan Switch was mentioned before the transfer period and reportedly declined by Villa.
Foster believes it is a key element in helping United secure a top five finish this season.
Speaking about his Fozcast podcast, he said:
“If United got off to a good start, they could finish fifth this season. If they got another goalkeeper and Emi Martinez signed Man United, they’d finished fifth this season.”
Martinez sparked concern among Villa supporters that he was poised to leave the club after what appeared to be an emotional breakup at the end of last season. As he left the pitch following the campaign’s final home match, he gestured to the fans in tears before leaving the pitch.
Villa is believed to have informed United that an exceptional bid of approximately £40 million is required to part with the first choice keeper. Last month, Athletic reported that the club would not pursue Martinez further due to demand prices and substantial wage demands.
Meanwhile, former Arsenal defender Philip Senderos suggests that United should consider signing Inter Milan goalkeeper Jan Sommer.
“I think Yann Sommer is a very experienced player and a calm figure,” Senderos told Boylesports. “He makes his defense better because of his presence.
“We can’t really judge Andre Onana in this situation, but I really believe that if United targets Yang Somer, he will add incredibly valuable experience.
“It’s about how he’s on the pitch as a person. He’s a great character and it’s amazing how he brings to defense.
