James Trafford broke the championship record among Burnley sticks last season and returned to Manchester City hoping to become their long-term No. 1 – the now-terrifying Italian issues could destroy his long-term plans
James Trafford didn’t expect to walk to Manchester City this summer and drive Edason away anytime soon. But he must have fantasized about the chance to get his No. 1 shirt in the very near future from the Brazilian, who has been constantly linked to travelling away from Etihad Stadium for the past 12 months.
The Premier League club has not yet received the current No. 1 contact information. However, while Aedason’s name is often not far from the Saudi Arabian conversation, Galatasaray is also interested in him.
But now it’s revealed that if a late bid comes for Ederson, City will plummet for PSG’s exiled Genluigi Donnaruma – despite signing Trafford this summer. That’s not good news for England who wants to be in the year of the World Cup. That’s certainly true.
City brought former player Trafford from Burnley on a £31m deal after triggering a clause consistent with Newcastle’s offer. They would pay £27 million as they had a sell-on clause included in the transaction when they sold Trafford to Burnley. But now, England International will find themselves in a strange position if City signs another goalkeeper.
If the Brazilians move on, they believed Trafford would remain at Adason, 31 this season, this season, before taking over next summer. But now, if you can find the current No. 1 buyer, it appears City will sign Donnarumma.

Italian Keeper Don Narumma is only 26 years old and is at the peak of his strength. That would seem like bad news for Trafford, who wants to play at 22.
Donnarumma will be available this summer after PSG boss Luis Enrique kicked him out of his first team despite being a Champions League heroic last season. The French giant spent more than £40 million as the new No. 1 and Donnaruma were expelled by Lille’s Lucas Chevalier.
The Keeper had the ambition to play in the Premier League, but once he moved to England, the city now appears to be his most likely destination. Manchester United are linked, but currently there are no plans to race for his signature.
Despite being kicked out of the first team, PSG hopes to sell Italy’s No. 1 for around £30 million in the coming weeks. The Keeper is understood to be unstable by the PSG’s actions. That’s despite having only one year left in his current contract and there are no indications of agreeing to a new deal for the last few months.
He was one of their star performers last season as he defeated Liverpool, Arsenal and Inter Milan on his way to European glory. People around him believe his statistics are also far better than the alternatives PSG purchased. That also means he won’t come to City sitting on the bench, where will it leave Trafford?
This season, being the second choice of longtime No. 1 would be acceptable with the knowledge that Edason appears to be itchy to get the move right away.
But if Pep Guardiola goes outside and brings in the famous keeper just a few weeks after he returns to the club, he should be seriously concerned.
