Manchester United boss Reuben Amorim added one of the club’s brightest young stars to train with his first team ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opening match against Arsenal at Old Trafford
Manchester United have confirmed that young talent Jack Fletcher is training with the first team ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opening match against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Fletcher, the son of Darren, a former United midfielder and current boss under 18, is one of the most promising players to come out of the club’s academy.
The young midfielder recently took part in the club’s preseason US tour, appearing in the second half of his 2-1 victory over West Ham United at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. He also came off the bench in a 0-0 draw with Leeds United, ahead of the US tour.
Despite scoring four goals in nine under-21 Premier League 2 appearances last season for United, the 18-year-old has yet to make his first-team debut for the club. However, he was named on the bench seven times last season.

Fletcher, along with his brother Tyler, switched from city rival Manchester City to United in the summer of 2023. According to Manchester Evening News, the pair surpassed the Manchester split with a total fee of £1.255 billion.
As they prepare for Sunday’s Premier League curtain lazers against gunners, United are not being washed out with midfield options exactly. The club’s website highlights how thin United is on the ground in that particular division.
With Dungora being loaned out to Rotherham United for the season earlier this summer, United’s first team lists only six midfielders on its official website. However, that number is expected to drop further due to the expected departure of Toby Collier’s loan.
Additionally, Mason Mount was designated 10th by coach Reuben Amorim, leaving Casemilo, Manuel Ugarte, Cobbie Mine and Bruno Fernandez as senior midfield options for the Portuguese boss.
United have expressed interest in bolstering their midfield lineup before the transfer window closes on September 1st, signing Brighton and Hove Albion star Carlos Valleva.
