Tottenham fans are banned from drinking wine and spirit ahead of tonight’s Super Cup showdown with Paris Saint-Germain. The people of North London want to launch a campaign by dominating European champions and lifting another trophy. They are supported by thousands of supporters who flew to Italy before the fixture.
Over the past few days, many fans have arrived at Udin and games have been played at Blue Ergie Stadium. However, some people will be left disappointed by the strange rules that work in local pubs and bars. They are prohibited from purchasing anything other than beer, and the restrictions also apply to PSG supporters.
In one pub, various spirits such as rum, whiskey, vodka were all dropped off from behind the bar. Fans were also prevented from purchasing wine. In other words, beer was the only alcoholic drink you could buy.
A note was recorded on the wall opposite the bar that read “Thanks to UEFA.” Another note highlighted: “It’s not our fault.”
Even locals were hit by strange restrictions, and local police officers said, “These are rules, they are beer. Even shops and supermarkets are not allowed to sell alcohol to residents who live here.”
Tottenham boss Thomas Frank reveals that Eve Bizuma was banished from the group due to disciplinary issues, so alcohol isn’t the only one being dumped for the Super Cup.
Before the fixture, Frank states:
“If you use everything you need to give your players a lot of love, there are requests, and you also need results, and this time there were results.
“For me, how can I say that, the result of this trip, and I’ll follow up when I get home. I have a relatively important game for tomorrow, so I’ll park it now.”
PSG handles a similar situation and axes Gianluigi Donnarumma from the team after not agreeing to a new contract. The goalkeeper is currently expected to leave the club alongside Manchester United.
“These are always difficult decisions,” explained PSG manager Luis Enrique. “I can talk very well about Gigio Donnarumma. He is one of the best players in his role.
“He’s even better, but we’re looking for another kind of goalkeeper. It’s always difficult to manage these kinds of situations.”
