Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandez used the term “lazy” in his ratings to assert that there is something that needs to be improved after a preseason draw with Everton.
Bruno Fernandez revealed his frustration with Manchester United during his pre-season tour, but not everyone is on the brunt of the captain’s criticism. Fernandez scored in a preseason meeting with Everton, but United’s problems were exposed as David Moet’s side scored a 2-2 draw.
United, allegedly skipped, claimed to be “lazy” during a draw in the US. However, Fernandez’s fellow goalscorer Mason Mount is still in a good book by his teammates.
“It’s been improved, but it’s not where we want it,” Fernandez said after the match against Everton. “It’s a football game, and there’s always passion there. No matter what happens, it happens. There was nothing spicy in it. It’s normal and part of the game.
“It’s positive (US tour) and it’s good to build bonds with players. It looks a bit lazy today and needs to change that,” he adds, suggesting that some new signatures are needed.
“I don’t want to dig into anyone, but I think the club is doing their best they can in regards to all the financial situation they’re talking about. I don’t know about that, I’m not involved in it.

The admiration for Mount goes beyond what could be a vital season for England International. He has struggled with many injuries since joining from Chelsea in 2023, but has shown why United were willing to pay him a lot towards the end of last season.
In two seasons as a United player, Mount played competitive minutes of less than 2,000 minutes. He is only 26 years old and has time to turn around his old Trafford career.
During United’s preseason tour, Mount outlined how United aimed to put last season’s struggle behind them. Amorim’s team finished its final term in 15th place, missing Europe for the first time in over a decade.
“From day one of the preseason, it’s really focused on the standards and details within training, what’s needed to get better and perform better, on and off the pitch,” the midfielder said. “We didn’t have a lot of analysis last season, we saw a few areas that could be improved, but this is a new season, like wiping the slate clean.
“As this season with a different kind of attitude and feelings about it, we’re ready to go. The atmosphere around the group is very energetic. In training, we want to win in the game, so it was a few kicks here and there. That’s what you want as a group.
